Day 50 - Island Hopping

Day 50 – Sunday: August 04, 2013, miles ridden today: 77.0

Walter had to get up this morning at 0300 to call my nephew Adam to ensure he was up to attend his scuba diving lesson, a minor disturbance. Then within an hour Adam was calling to say there was some confusion about which pool. Walter provided him directions again and then called the instructor to explain the mix-up. Then, his ex-wife called after dropping her dog off at his house, for Adam to care for, to tell him she locked her purse inside. YIKES! He’s go to throw that phone out the window. Needless to say, we weren’t on the road too early today.

We made the 1235 Ferry to Orcas Island, arrived on the island and rode to Eastsound. After a snack of salad & pizza we rode by the Airport to check out the planes, then rode down to Deer Harbor. This island is absolutely beautiful, I’ll definitely return to explore it further. Headed down to the Ferry Terminal to catch the 1720 back to Anacortes.

Returning to Oak Harbor we detoured along Rosarito Rd. that came out just before Deception Pass. It was time to take some pictures:

Upon returning to the base I had to take some pictures of a couple of birds:

From what I’m told there will be two new squadrons of F-18G’s standing up to replace the outgoing E-6’s.

What a great day: ride, weather, having my brother along… doesn’t get any better than this!

Goodnight,
