Day 53 - Washington Motorcycle Roads

Day 53 – Wednesday: August 07, 2013, miles ridden today: 232.0

Walter and I did some great mountain motorcycle riding today; our plan was to visit destinations like Mt. Rainer and Mt. St. Helens State Park, but unfortunately we left St. Helens out due to schedule constraints.

I’ve read that many of the country's best motorcycle rides fall within the borders of Washington (WA) state. This afternoon I sent a text to Jim G. (Chelan) and Dennis I. (Sedro-Wooley) that their home state is blessed with a vast diversity of breathtaking scenery including the Pacific Coast and Islands, the Olympic Peninsula which we pretty much circumvented, the Cascade Mountains which I’ve traversed over the past week, the incredible Columbia River basin which I rode along, and the arid rolling hills of eastern Washington which I experienced when I stayed at Jim’s home in Chelan.

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Riding from Centrailia, WA along Route 12 E we stopped for a break in Mossyrock, WA. The woman who owned the store tried in vain to get us to sit down at her 4-stool counter for a lunch. Water and snacks is all we wanted.

Further down the road in Packwood, WA we stopped for fuel and lunch at this establishment"

They remain open in the winter for Ski Crowd
Seven miles east of town we turned onto Route 123 N to Rainer NP. Initial visit was to Paradise Lodge:

Walter gets a phone call from brother Mark as we're travelling this stretch of highway:

Mark calls, we answer no matter where or what we are or doing :)
Headache Walter?
Next entry was Sunrise Lodge:

Exiting the Park we headed to Enumclaw, WA to end the day, but couldn't find lodging due to a Christian Fest being held in area. Found a place in Auburn, WA.

So tomorrow it's to Seattle, coffee at Starbuck's #1 store.
