Day 43 - National Park Tour

Day 43 – Sunday: July 28, 2013, miles ridden today: 300.0

Leaving KOA Campground

Woke up packed and headed down to the KOA Pavilion for Pancakes. Two motorcyclists in cabin next to my tent site, Dave and his brother Steve from Minnesota, joined me. Both, Vietnam Veterans who served in country together, but one in Navy other Army. Interesting conversation, including a story about their younger brother who was always AWOL and they had to bring him back to base several times till he was dishonorably discharged…

I entered Glacier National Park from the east side, and I couldn’t ask for a better day! Two hours later I decided to head for Yellowstone National Park, then continue south through Grand Teton National Park, and Jackson Hole before turning west for Seattle to meet Walter on Friday 08/02/13.

Winnie and I took a Red Car Tour several years ago here in GNP - it was the best!

See how well they blend in

Most of the ride was spectacular scenery, others not so much: flatland or walls of trees. Weather started to close in on me so I turned off the highway at Anaconda, MT and found a neat RV Campground. Nancy the owner told me a severe thunderstorm just passed through and we’d probably get more before it ends. The price of a cabin was more than I was willing to pay, so she offered me a Tee-Pee. Hell, I’m not too old to try anything new… it was great!

Had to bend a little getting in & out

Surprisingly no rain came through that big hole in the center

After stowing all my gear in the Tee-Pee, I walked to the Fairmont Springs Resort for dinner. Of course on my return to the camp the sky opened up on me, oh well.

Goodnight,
