Day 40 – Thursday: July
25, 2013, miles ridden today: 103.0
Woke this morning in
McBride, BC at Beaver View Campground; very nice – no rain! Packed the tent,
got all ready to go and decided to take advantage of the free Internet. To get
a signal I had to sit outside the main office in a lawn chair with nowhere to
plug in, so battery being low, no updates… this will be late being posted too.
Some DRB (ask me later
what this means) took advantage of me back in Terrace, BC. I charged $22.84 of
fuel and got tagged for $194 and I got no way to call the bank, but emailed
them describing the issue. I hope for the best… those damn DRB’s!
Anyway, it’s off to
Jasper today. This has to be one of the most spectacular drives anyone could
take.
I found a campsite just
outside of Jasper at Whistler Campground, 781 sites on the property. One thing
I’ll not about the Canadian campsites & restroom facilities: they are clean
and well maintained. Wish I could compliment those South of The Border.
With no cell phone
service I have no means other than email to contact Chris V.W. (Day 6-8: the
fellow I was riding with from MT to WA & BC). I left him a message where I
was, and I’d leave camp by 9 o/c and be in Edson, AB by noon. Then we planned
to ride to Banff, AB.

I went into town to eat & email Chris V.W. a message for tomorrow. Upon my return, I grabbed my book, some scotch, and sat down to enjoy the evening. The folks in the next campsite, a family of 7, Persian, brought me over some food & desert. All I did earlier is bring over a few scrap pieces of firewood I wasn't going to use. WOW!

All I had to offer was some Scotch which he took a shot of...
