Day6 - June 21, 2013, 406.0 miles Travelled Lo 39°F Hi 64°F
Due to the state of emergency in Calgary & Edmonton, Alberta province, I decided to ride west with Chris to The Canadian Border, and cross at Osoyoos, BC. The others will attempt to get to their homes in Alberta later today when the park opens for through traffic. We travelled through Sandpoint, ID into WA, crossing the Columbia River. We Hit rain and a 20°F Temperature plunge to 39°F going up through Sherman Pass at 5,575 feet.
In Sandpoint we arrived at Jalapenos Mexican Restaurant early due tot eh time change.
To kill an hour we walked around town. This is one awesome looking place, beautiful lake, nice marina's, and cute downtown area... and the folks are extremely friendly.
Talked to the owner Sherry (from San Diego 23 years ago) a bit and we promised we'd come back at regular opening time for lunch. WHAT A GREAT LUNCH SPECIAL - Fish Taco w/cheese enchilada. The waitress came by when we finished dinner and told us the boss said we were having desert: fried Ice Cream or Brownie. No question here:
I crossed the border without any issue.
In Osoyoos, Chris knew where to find a room. Dropped our gear off in the room and hit the street for dinner. Found a great Prime Rib dinner, the walked down to the water front and stopped into the Owls Pub. Chris, a Canadian Rye aficionado, provided me an introduction to one of Canada's finest - Gibson Rye Whiskey. VERY NICE - I could learn to enjoy this in moderation :)
Weather is clearing, Osoyoos Sunset:
Tomorrow, our plan is to hit Kamloops, BC. From there I will journey to St. George to get to Dawson Creek and Chris will meet up with his friend Wilber who had to break off their trip due to a family emergency.
I post again when I can...
